Imaging hard drives consumes a lot of resources when it comes to disk space, but it's definately the way to go if you want to make sure you have a backup of your current computer configuration or you need to replicate computers very quickly.
This is a top of the line, easy to use, always seems to work type of solution. I've never come across a network card/computer that it doesn't work with. I've successfully used it to disk image windows machines and Linux machines. Of course, it doesn't really matter what the filesytem type is because it uses a bit by bit copy of the HD.
All you have to do is create one little floppy to boot a client on and setup a remote ftp server. It will boot the computer and upload or download a tgz image file. As long as you dump to hard drives larger or the same size as the image you'll be fine. It's really just as simple as it sounds.
